## Compare volume of cylinders by changing area of base & height | Volume estimation | Math Project

• Build cylinders of different sizes (base and height) and learn how volume changes with the base and height.
• Learn to estimate the volume of a container & compare volume of 2 different containers
• Learn to measure the volume of a container using a measuring device

Volumes of Knowledge

What is volume? The basic property of all figures that can contain any medium, ranging from air to diet soda – volume is the property that indicates the amount of space occupied by a substance or object. While every tangible object has a certain volume, our academic syllabus deals with only a particular number of figures – and their volume is denoted by various formulae that can easily be applied by students to find answers to mathematical problems. But as volume is a concept based in three dimensions, understanding it can be tricky (even if implementing it is not). With practical implementation and hands-on learning, this kit will teach your 2nd grader everything they need to know about volume estimation!

This kit consists of the following activities:

• Build cylinders of different sizes (base and height) and learn how volume changes with the base and height.
• Learn to estimate the volume of a container & compare volume of 2 different containers
• Learn to measure the volume of a container using a measuring device

Use provided labeled containers of different shapes and sizes, syringes, cups and marbles to perform this extremely interactive project that children can enjoy and learn important lessons of their Mathematics syllabus from!
